The conference will occur on the island of San Servolo (pictured), which is just 10 minutes by vaporetto from Piazza San Marco (the tourist heart of Venice), with additional events in the lovely halls of Ca’ Foscari U, near l’Accademia, on Wednesday, June 5.
Hotel rooms normally start at around 200 euros/night; keep in mind that the first week of June is also the start of Venice’s Art Biennale so rooms will be at a premium. You should make hotel arrangements at your earliest convenience if you have not done so yet. A number of you will be staying in dorm rooms on San Servolo itself; remember that these rooms are very spare and are not air conditioned. Though we are hoping for moderate weather, Venice can start to get quite warm as early as the end of May, so the lack of air conditioning can be difficult for anyone not used to warmer nights. The rooms, however, are clean and have a bathroom in room. These rooms have been assigned at the following rates: singles at 95 euros/night, doubles at 135 euros/night (67.50 euros/person/night), and triples at 160 euros/night (53.33 euros/person/night). Rooms have now all been assigned. If you would like to join a waiting list, please contact us at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
